  • Israel strikes military site near Damascus Syria's state-run news claims

Several Israeli ground-to-surface missiles have been intercepted by Syrian forces, while a number of others caused material damage in the area south of Damascus, the Syrian Al-Ikhbariya TV channel reported. Airstrikes by the IAF were also reported.

This follows a row of seemingly random attacks on Syria by the hostile Israeli Defense Forces, which often target positions near the Golan Heights but have since expanded their operating territory to attack more high-value targets.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the missiles, presumably Israeli, struck positions of the Syrian government and its allies southwest of Damascus overnight.

Tehran has helped prop up the Syrian regime with militias and officers.

The video was recorded Thursday, before the alleged strike, and is set to air in full on Sunday at the Brookings Institution's annual Saban Forum in Washington, DC.
