Pep Guardiola has admitted he regrets his extraordinary post-match exchange with Southampton's Nathan Redmond that has brought him to the attention of the disciplinary department of the Football Association.

"It was a good night, I think all the supporters create some special moments tonight and in the last second we enjoyed the situation", the City boss told a new conference.

While Guardiola's actions were unusual, the most important opinion on the matter is Redmond's, and he evidently welcomed the comments he received. Redmond issued a statement on Twitter in response to growing media speculation, confirming "nothing negative or offensive was said".

'I told him I was doing what my Manager had asked me to do in the game.

Yemen's President Hadi: We support every party facing Iran-backed Houthis
Fighting between rebel groups has erupted in Sanaa in recent days, leading to dozens of deaths, officials from both sides told CNN.

"I was telling Nathan Redmond how good he is at the end. Yes he was very passionate, intense and aggressive but he was only very complimentary and positive to me".

He admits he would have been furious had he been the Southampton manager and termed Guardiola a disgrace for expecting teams to just roll over against his expensively assembled squad. "I never judge and never will judge the way my opponents play against my team".

Redmond has insisted no offence was taken and confirmed the City manager's claims he was merely complimenting the Southampton winger after Raheem Sterling's goal deep into stoppage time sealed a win that kept Guardiola's men eight points clear at the top of the table. This season, however, Citizens earned all three points thanks to a late victor from Raheem Sterling. "We want to win the league but you have to celebrate when you score in the last breath like that".

The Sky Blues' next outing will see them host West Ham United on Sunday, where they'll look to continue their title charge with another win.
