Vols WR Jauan Jennings, the recipient of the Hail Mary pass to beat beat Georgia past year, has been dismissed from the team by interim coach Brady Hoke. "But after talking to John Currie and consulting with him, I know what the right thing to do is for our football team". Hoke added that "representing the University of Tennessee football program is a privilege". "That's why we made that decision". He said the "coaching staff (is) holding us back" and asked that Tennessee officials "bring us a coaching staff that's honest". Jennings accused the UT coaches of lying (about what is unclear) before calling them "fake" and snakes. The program parted ways with Butch Jones, who had been coaching in Knoxville since 2013, after the team started 0-6 in SEC play.

Jennings went on a profanity-laced rant on his Instagram account Wednesday afternoon from his auto leaving practice.

Trooper shot and killed in east-central Texas
Authorities are confirming a Texas DPS Trooper was shot and killed Thursday afternoon on I-45 in Freestone County near Fairfield. Authorities say a Texas state trooper has been killed and they're looking for a man in connection to the shooting.

Jennings was Tennessee's leading returning receiver entering the season and was poised to play a key role before his injury.

Jennings caught 40 passes for 580 yards and seven touchdowns last season.

With a loss Saturday, Tennessee would go winless in conference for the first time since 1924 when it went 0-4 in the Southern conference.
