  • OnePlus 5T Launch Begins in New York City: Live Updates

The OnePlus 5, the company's most recent flagship smartphone, was released just months ago in June.

This is the same price the OnePlus launched at earlier this year.

OnePlus has confirmed that open sales will begin online from 21 November, but will not be offering pre-orders through its online store at oneplus.net. OnePlus 5T does away with OnePlus's signature touch-sensitive home button, replacing it with on-screen navigation keys. It also uses a default theme that is a mix of sunset oranges, pinks and blues, which produce a pleasing effect that's immediately eye-catching.

On the front the OnePlus 5T has a 6.01-inch display and it stretches almost edge-to-edge. The company's put quite an effort in the 5T's edge to edge display, which will calibrate itself according to surrounding light and apps being run.

Just like the 5, the OnePlus 5T is launching with Android 7.1.1 Nougat with the company's OxygenOS.

OnePlus claims that latest Oxygen OS offers pure Android with improved performance and better RAM management. Apparently, the back panel of the phone undergoes two lots of sandblasting before receiving an anti-fingerprint layer. The screen is now taller, which has pushed the fingerprint reader to the back.

OnePlus 5T costs $499 on Nov. 21: Face unlock, dual cameras

Some significant changes have been made when it comes to the dual camera, which has been revamped for use with low light photography. The OnePlus 5T also offers the same 16-megapixel rear camera with IMX398 sensor wide angle lens as the OnePlus 5.

The OnePlus 5T continues to comes with the same, powerful Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB or 8GB of RAM option, 64GB or 128GB storage option, 3500mAh battery with Dash Charge, dual-SIM 4G LTE with VoLTE, USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth v5.0 with aptXHD, GPS, NFC, and dual-band Wi-Fi ac.

However, the bigger screen won't come at a cost to how comfortable the OnePlus 5T is to hold, as it's the same size as the OnePlus 5. With this tech, when ambient light drops to 10 lux, the phone switches to its secondary camera and that combines 4 of its 1.0 micron pixels into one so that it can capture more light.

OnePlus has taken this opportunity to make some tweaks to the interface. It's an idea that's already built into services like Google, but it's still great to see for apps like Facebook, Twitter and Skype, particularly when switching between business and personal accounts.

To help alleviate the inconvenience of not being able to unlock the phone from the front, OnePlus included a Face Unlock feature that can recognise 100 different facial identifiers and will even recognise you if you're wearing something like a scarf or making a really dumb face. We'll be testing this claim during our full review, but it appears to work well on first impressions.

Vikas says no. "I don't think OnePlus 5 users should upgrade to 5T". It sticks to what works while introducing a fresh design that reignites that same enthusiasm you felt for the original. For the OnePlus 5T, the Oreo testing starts later next month. A quick half-hour charge gives the OnePlus 5T enough power for the day.
