New Broadcast Feature for the Google Assistant Launches Today

  • You can now broadcast messages from Google Assistant to your Google Home devices

Alphabet's owned brand Nest also linked its devices with Google Assistant support. Ecobee3, Ecobee3 Lite, and Ecobee4 can be accessed with the help of Google Home or by any other device that supports Google Assistance.

With the update in place, users can set off Assistant on their smartphone to send messages to all Assistant-enabled speakers within their home.

Google has rolled out an update that will allow you to use the company's Home speakers as intercom systems in your house.

Users in the United States can even change Google Assistants voice from female to male. That said the wait is now over and anyone who may have held off on a device like the Google Home or an ecobee thermostat can confidently purchase either or both knowing that they will work together. The Google support page on the feature now states that you need Google Home devices with firmware 1.26.93937 or higher to use broadcasting.

Chevrolet Corvette ZR1: Most Powerful 'Vette Ever Produced
The ZR1 ushered supercharging into the Corvette's wheelhouse almost a decade ago, and this C7 ZR1 assures it's alive and well. Both of the rear wings are attached to the car's chassis - something Chevrolet claims will increase strength and stability.

"And if you're just leaving the office, you can let your family know you're coming with a simple 'Ok Google, broadcast I'm on my way home!' to the Assistant on your phone, and it will broadcast to your Google Homes", the blog read.

To broadcast from one Google Home device to others, you will need to have at least two devices, which can be a combination of Google Home and Google Home Mini. You can do this by opening the Google Home app tap Devices in the top-right corner tap the Menu icon for the Google Home device card Settings Do not disturb. Saying "Ok Google, broadcast it's dinner time" will, for example, play a dinner bell through all the connected speakers.

The new broadcasting feature has already started rolling out to Assistant for the mobile and smart speakers. But Google has promised to rollout support for more languages in the near future.

While that sounds a little weird, it'll definitely be a useful feature to many people.
