  • 3 US aircraft carriers to conduct simultaneous maritime drill in the Pacific in massive show of force

The three carriers - USS Ronald Reagan, USS Nimitz and USS Theodore Roosevelt - plan to stage "coordinated operations" in worldwide waters from Saturday till next Tuesday, according to the 7th Fleet. In recent months, U.S. Navy carriers have conducted dual-carrier strike group exercises in the Western Pacific, including in the contested South China Sea, East China Sea and Philippine Sea. This is the first time that three carrier strike groups have operated together in the Western Pacific since exercises Valiant Shield 2006 and 2007 off the coast of Guam. The aerial formation consists of aircraft from the carrier strike groups as well as Air Force aircraft.

"It is a rare opportunity to train with two aircraft carriers together, and even rarer to be able to train three", said Admiral Scott Swift, the U.S. Pacific Fleet Commander.

Units assigned to the strike force will conduct coordinated operations in worldwide waters to demonstrate the U.S. Navy's unique capability to operate multiple carrier strike groups as a coordinated strike force effort.

Three United States aircraft carriers are set to perform rare drills starting Saturday in the Western Pacific, in the midst of the North Korean crisis, and coinciding with the Asia tour of the American president, the US Navy said Thursday.

Shin Won-sik, former head of the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff operational headquarters, said that the U.S. Navy's coordinated operations would "give a taste" of Washington's military options on North Korea, which has often threatened to hit the U.S. mainland with long-range missiles.

OnePlus 5T set to launch: What rumours have to say
When asked if 4,000 Yuan (around Rs. 39,000) would be enough to buy the new OnePlus phone, the CEO commented "Enough". OnePlus 5T is the successor of the OnePlus 5 series smartphone that is set to launch on November 16 , 2017 in India.

Singapore-based military expert Tim Huxley said the presence of the USA carriers still sent an unmistakable message, with each one carrying 70-odd aircraft.

Such a move is widely interpreted as a show of force against North Korea's nuclear threats and China's assertiveness in the South China Sea.

Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., said Monday that "all the name calling and all the chest beating" by Trump isn't helpful and may actually be increasing the risks of confrontation with North Korea.

The U.S. has sent a number of its so-called strategic assets to the area - including carriers, heavy bombers and high-tech submarines - as part of a concerted push to heap pressure on North Korea to rein in its nuclear and missile programs.

The request also includes costs associated with increased United States troop levels in Afghanistan in support of my Administration's South Asia strategy.
