  • George HW Bush on Trump: He's a 'blowhard'

According to a new book that takes a look at the presidencies of both George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, neither ex-President has much to good to say about the current occupant of the White House, reports the New York Times.

In this endearing, illuminating work, presidential historian Mark K. Updegrove tracks the two Bush presidents from their formative years through their post-presidencies and the failed presidential candidacy of Jeb Bush, derailing the Bush presidential dynasty. "And I'm not too excited about him being [our] leader".

Bush Sr. famously skipped Trump's inauguration, citing a health reason and admitted that he voted for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, a Democrat, in the 2016 presidential election.

George H.W. Bush also reportedly called Trump a "blowhard".

Mark Updegrove, the author of the book, talked to both Bushes on the record and they made it clear a year ago they were none too happy about the former reality television star becoming president.

Michigan State upsets Penn State after lengthy delay
The Spartans held Penn State star Saquon Barkley in check with 131 total yards, including zero rushing yards in the first half. Lewerke, a first-year starter, finished the day 33 of 56 with 400 yards as he gashed the Nittany Lions all day long.

It really was no secret that the Bushes aren't really big fans of President Donald Trump. During Trump's campaign, Bush said he felt Trump had "a certain ego" and felt he'd need to have "humility" in order to unite the country.

Bush told Updegrove that he worries that he may be the last Republican to hold the office of the presidency.

Trump stood for rudeness, global isolationism and weak leadership in the eyes of the Bushes, according to Updegrove - reservations echoed by many establishment Republicans.

Who did the former presidents vote for in 2016?

A representative said his comments weren't meant to criticize Trump. But, she wrote, if voters "were interested in continuing decades of costly mistakes, another establishment politician more concerned with putting politics over people would have won".
