  • Eminem Wins Court Case Against New Zealand Political Party Over

Eminem has emerged victorious and his publishing company awarded $600,000 ($415,000 USD) after a judge ruled that New Zealand's National Party used his track "Lose Yourself" in campaign ads without permission.

According to emails from the political party, they were well aware that the song they wrote was far too close to Em's hit 8 Mile single.

High Court judge Helen Cull said the campaign song sounded like a copy and was a copy. "We hope that we see more original music in advertising as a result, and that writers get properly acknowledged and rewarded for their hard work".

She stopped short of awarding additional damages, saying the party had only used the song after receiving professional advice that it could do so, and had not acted recklessly.

I'm getting sick and exhausted of this so-called politician using my husband as a political platform. On the day of Johnson's funeral, the president continued to tweet about Rep.

After New Zealand's conservative National Party failed to retain its governorship of the country following last month's general election, it has been dealt another blow. "The undeniable inference to be drawn from the evidence is that the composer of "Eminem Esque" had "Lose Yourself" in front of him at the time of composition", it added. "It copied the essential elements that made "Lose Yourself' a global hit. The National Party was also a very willing licensee, because they specifically wanted the Lose Yourself sound". It was calculated and intentional.

Mr Goodfellow said that the National Party had purchased the piece of production music from a reputable Australian-based music production library, who had purchased it from a USA supplier.

He claimed the party was considering its next actions and had already lodged an insurance claim against the distributors as well as licensors of the sound-alike track. When reached for comment via phone, Eight Mile Style's publisher Joel Martin noted that he was initially incensed by the notion that "Lose Yourself" was being targeted as "unoriginal".
