Stories have emanated from the White House of a president bristling under a more disciplined and authoritative chief of staff, himself reportedly exasperated by Trump's controversial ad lib comments in speeches and on Twitter that upended attempts to carefully set policy.

"Although I read it all the time, pretty consistently: I'm not quitting today", Kelly said in his first appearance at a White House press briefing since becoming chief of staff earlier this year. He said: "This is hard, hard work and my only frustration, with all due respect to everyone in the room, is when I come to work in the morning and read about things I allegedly said, or things Mr Trump allegedly said, or people who are going to be fired or whatever, and it's just not true".

"[Gen. Kelly] puts to rest an very bad lot of these rumors and this conjecture and these plain out fictions that we see every single day", she said on "The Intelligence Report".

The White House chief of staff said Thursday that he was not leaving his job, and he chastised reporters for speculating that his tenure would be brief.

"Unless things change, I'm not quitting, I'm not getting fired and I don't think I'll fire anyone tomorrow", the former secretary of homeland security told reporters, drawing some laughter.

North Korean hackers stole South's war plans
Mr Lee was quoted as saying the plans included blueprints for attacks to eliminate North Korean leader Kim Jong Un . Trump is expected to send a strong message to North Korea on his first trip to Korea as commander-in-chief.

"One of his frustrations is you".

And while the president has not said anything critical of Kelly, and in fact, has had nothing but praise for the retired Marine Corps general, reports have circulated that tensions between the two have been brewing. It is astounding to me how much is misreported.

'I would offer, though, it is not the best job I've ever had.

Kelly also noted that "Congress has been frustrating" to the President. "Right now, there is great concern about a lot of Americans that live in Guam". "This is really, really hard work - running the United States of America".

"Right now we think the threat is manageable", he said, but added the situation would become more problematic over time if North Korea's capability "grows beyond where it is today".
