  • The South Korean military said this was part of a regular exercise to bolster military defences and also to display the alliance between the United States and South Korea

Two US B-1 bombers carried out a training exercise today with Japanese and South Korean military aircraft in the vicinity of the Sea of Japan, the US military said, amid growing tension over North Korea's missile and nuclear programs.

Five South Koreans have fled China to avoid the possibility of abduction to North Korea, an official from Seoul's Foreign Ministry said Thursday.

The North/South joint venture with South Korea was suspended past year to punish the Kim Jong Un government for conducting nuclear and missile tests, and to cut off a possible source of funding for Pyongyang's illicit weapons development program.

North Korea will "shower fire" on the U.S. in response to the threats by its President Donald Trump, the regime's Foreign Minister has said.

The ministry said that there are no specific signs that confirm North Korea's reopening of the factory zone, though some bus movements and illuminated street lamps have been spotted.

Rhee Cheol-Hee, a lawmaker for the ruling Democratic party, said the hackers had broken into the South's military network last September and gained access to 235 gigabytes of sensitive data, the Chosun Ilbo daily reported.

United States and South Korean wartime operational plans, including a plan to wipe out the North Korean leadership, were stolen by North Korean hackers previous year, a South Korean ruling party lawmaker said on Wednesday.

Trump escalates feud with Corker
Asked if Corker should resign, Sanders said that decision is not for the White House to make. So who IS Bob Corker? "I don't think so at all", he said.

Trump hosted a discussion on Tuesday on options to respond to any North Korean aggression or, if necessary, to prevent Pyongyang from threatening the United States and its allies with nuclear weapons, the White House said in a statement.

US President Donald Trump (L) and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

The EU also said a total number of 63 individuals and 53 entities were sanctioned under restrictive measures as listed by the United Nations, while 38 individuals and four entities have been designated by the bloc autonomously.

It remains unclear whether North Korea is holding official celebrations for the party anniversary or if its leader Kim Jong-Un is making any public appearances for the occasion. Some military experts believe that power supply problems make it hard for North Korea to turn on its air defense radars for 24 hours a day and also that the systems might struggle to effectively track advanced warplanes such as B-1Bs, which have low radar-cross sections.

Vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam will hold strategic talks with visiting U.S. Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan on October 18 in Seoul, according to Seoul's foreign ministry. He also boasted that his nation has nearly achieved a "balance of force" with the U.S.

But Kim, the third generation of his family to rule, is officially revered in the North, and any suggestion of removing him from power is taken extremely seriously in Pyongyang.
