  • Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was heard calling Trump a'moron after the July meeting where the president said he wanted the U.S. nuclear stockpile to grow back to Cold War numbers

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday (Oct 11) denied a report from NBC News that he told his national security advisers in July he wanted to increase the country's nuclear arsenal by almost tenfold, saying he argued for its modernisation.

Citing "three officials who were in the room", NBC reports Trump indicated during the meeting that he wants to expand America's arsenal of nuclear weapons to about 32,000 - a huge increase from the current stockpile of about 4,000. During his speech before the United Nations General Assembly last month, Trump made no distinction between the King Jong-un regime and the North Korea people and said his administration is willing to "totally destroy North Korea". "That was just fake news by NBC, which gives a lot of fake news lately", Trump said when asked about the article during a press conference. Mr. Trump tweeted. "Bad for country!"

Comcast was down almost 1% to 37.31 in late trading on the stock market today.

Officials told NBC that they were surprised to hear Trump focus on enlarging America's nuclear weapons footprint.

Officials told NBC News that Trump was presented with a chart that illustrated the decline in the size of the United States nuclear arsenal, which now includes 4,000 weapons, during the summer Pentagon meeting.

"I never said that", he said during a news briefing with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Last week the Nobel Peace Prize went to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, which has openly criticized Trump - and Kim - for making radioactive threats.

Though it isn't logistically feasible to increase the USA nuclear arsenal in the dramatic manner Trump reportedly desires, his interest follows a troubling pattern.

Discussing Trump's decision to get involved in the NFL/national anthem debate, Limbaugh suggested that the president should stop using Twitter as a personal opinion battering ram.

"Under deregulatory measures that Republicans successfully pushed over the past generation, challenging a license on the grounds that coverage is unfair or biased would be extremely hard", the newspaper reported.
