Google unveils a $249 smart camera that decides what's worth photographing

  • Google CEO Sundar Pichai as got a surprise for you

How the camera works is, when it recognise a scene it records - as its name suggests - short video clips at 15fps from which you can later extract high-resolution still images. One device that was left secret though was the Google Clips miniature camera and now we know all about this little device. The functionality looks similar to what Google already does with its Photos app, albeit without the need for you to tell it when to take a photo at all. Apart from the flagship smartphone duo, the company also unveiled its smart Home products and the new PixelBook. The camera recognizes your face as well as the face of your family members and with the help of AI, it manages to take pictures on its own.

It has 16GB of storage on the camera itself. In fact, the device is created to clip onto a pocket, autonomously taking pictures while you're out and about. Anyway, Google said you can export any recordings as video, photos, or GIFs. It doesn't grab audio, but it does have smart recognition features on board. In addition to this, the camera learns over time to take pictures of selected people.

Rohingya exodus swells again - Myanmar media
Bangladeshi home minister will shortly visit Myanmar for discussion over the border management proposal, said Mahmood Ali. Or President U Htin Kyaw and State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi can refer the Rakhine situation to the I.C.C.

Google gave Clips a wide-field lens, allowing it to capture a 130-degree view of what's happening in front of it. It is designed with parents and pet owners in mind, Google says, and it is built with a clip that doubles as a stand for easier positioning. You then use a phone app (which will be available for both Android and iOS) to review the clips that Clips captured and decide what to share. Priced at $249, chances are it won't be exactly flying off the shelves.
