The Indonesian Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation said activity of Mount Agung remained high on Thursday, recording 125 volcanic earthquakes between 12am and 6am. An exclusion zone around the mountain extends as far as 12km from the crater in places but officials say people farther from the volcano are leaving too.

Thousands of people have been evacuated on the Indonesian island of Bali and on Ambae island in Vanuatu as two volcanoes threaten to erupt.

Indonesia's volcanology agency said the number of people who have been evacuated from their homes in Bali has climbed to almost 100,000 by Wednesday (Sept 27) as fears of an imminent eruption grow. "So I made a decision to get out to save myself with my stuff and my pet", he said, carrying a bird in a cage.

"Flights may be disrupted in the event of a volcanic eruption", the DFA said in a statement. The increase in tremors suggests an eruption is "imminent", she said.

Mount Agung is seen at sunrise from an observation point which is about 12 kilometer (7.4 miles) away from the volcano in Karangasem, Bali, Indonesia, Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017.

"At night everything was shaking because of the quake, I evacuated on foot through dusty roads", said Nengah Bunter, 70, at another evacuation centre.

Delta flights will now have free in-flight texting
Delta Airlines reports this service upgrade is part of the company's multi-billion dollar investment in customer experience. Bastian joined Delta in 1998 and took over as chief executive officer in May a year ago .

Airlines are closely monitoring the situation, and some anticipate an eruption that would cause the release of ash clouds are risky for air traffic.

"If Mount Agung erupts, I'm in charge of pressing the alarm button", said Nyoman Kasna, a local official.

Officials hope improved technology and early warnings this time mean a disaster on the scale of 1963 will be averted. "Sirens will sound and tell the community the mountain has erupted".

Indonesia is the world's most active volcanic region with 127 active volcanoes.

The entire population of Ambae is being moved from the path of the "increasingly active" Marano volcano, also known as Lombenben, according to the Pacific nation's government.
