But when asked whether the USA would remain in the deal, Trump replied only that, "I'll let you know, I'll let you know for sure".

A possible third pillar would involve "open discussions with Iran about the current situation in the region".

The U.S. would face significant criticism, both within the country and from the other nations that negotiated the initial deal, in any attempt to pull out, Rouhani told reporters at a news conference here Wednesday.

"We have a lot of issues with Iran, they're...a yard long, the nuclear issue is only one foot of that yard", he said.

"I have decided. I'll let you know what the decision is", he said.

He responded to Donald Trump's Tuesday address, which fiercely criticised Iran, calling it "ignorant, absurd and hateful rhetoric" that was "unfit to be heard at the United Nations".

The company's chief says the company can do more, but did not outline how or to what extent, except to reiterate that it would happen "even without our employees involved in the sales".

Trump also sharply criticized the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran, calling it "one of the worst and most one-sided transactions the United States has ever entered into" and signaling that he may be considering pulling the U.S. out of the deal soon.

After Trump's address, Rouhani said many reporters, officials and European heads of state said explicitly that they opposed the U.S. president's remarks.

He has until 15 October to decide whether to certify that Iran is complying with the deal.

"By violating its global commitments, the new US administration only destroys its own credibility and undermines worldwide confidence in negotiating with it or accepting its word or promise".

Tillerson told reporters after the meeting that the United States did not dispute that Iran was in "technical compliance" with the JCPOA, saying that Mogherini's comments referred only to technical compliance with the nuclear deal.

Trump is also reportedly weighing new measures against Iran-allied forces in Iraq and Syria, and its support for resistance groups elsewhere. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson told Fox News on Tuesday that Trump's assessment of the nuclear agreement "is that it's a not stiff enough agreement, it doesn't slow their program enough and holding them accountable is hard under the agreement".

Under the deal, Iran undertook to apply certain limits to its nuclear program in exchange for the termination of all nuclear-related sanctions against Tehran.
