It might not be the fight that will capture the attention of mainstream sports fans, but the bout between Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez on Saturday night is appointment viewing for combat sports fans and the kind of event that can restore a bit of faith in boxing. Golovkin is the harder hitter but Alvarez has a speed advantage. Seriously. I watch a lot of movies. With 33 of his 37 victories coming by way of stoppage, Golovkin holds the highest knockout percentage (89.8) in middleweight championship history.

I'm veering towards GGG, given his experience in the ring with bigger boxers and his ability to dictate the pace.

If you are a BoxNation online subscriber, you will be able to watch the fight online for no extra cost. "I've been a champion a long time", said Golovkin. Right now I feel great.

The Mexican has bounced back from that defeat though, winning two world titles in two different divisions and become known as one of the globe's best pound-for-pound fighters.

There's plenty for fight fans to ponder in the buildup to this bout. "We are going to give a great battle", Golovkin said.

The fight on September 16 in Las Vegas between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, from Mexico, and Gennady "GGG" Golovkin, from Kazakhstan, will be different, promises Oscar De La Hoya, whose Golden Boy Promotions is the fight promoter.

- Golovkin is fighting in Las Vegas for the very first time despite having 10 previous bouts as a pro in the United States.

Monroe, 30, is boxing for the first time in a year and has registered two points-wins since being stopped in six rounds by knockout specialist Golovkin. In the United States, he fought in New York, California and CT so far. "He took a beating before and if he quit before when there were three belts on the line, he will certainly quit when there's one belt on the line", said Saunders. Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez meet Saturday night in a middleweight showdown that has been brewing for years. That could be a very big weight difference.

Golovkin's team has claimed that Alvarez has avoided their overtures for a fight for a couple of years, and that may be true, Chargin says, but not because Alvarez didn't want the fight.
