Voter Fraud Commission Holds Second Meeting In New Hampshire Amid Controversy

Since its formation, the commission has been accused of skirting open-government laws; it has publicly released personal details such as street and email addresses of citizens who contacted it, nearly always to complain; and generated a fierce backlash when it asked state election officials to turn over data on every voter in the United States.
Plus, not only has Kobach supposedly found proof, but it turns out that this massive fraudulent voting binge likely changed the outcome of a key senate race, allowing a Democrat to oust a Republican.
Temple noted that the attorney general represented on the record, and Assistant Secretary of State David Scanlon represented in his affidavit, that the Secretary of State's Office will make good-faith efforts to ensure that voters are properly informed of SB3's requirements at Tuesday's election."This should include the fact that there are now no penalties, pursuant to this order, for failing to return any documents in connection with same-day voter registration". Voting advocates were concerned earlier this year after the department sent out a request to 44 states asking for information about compliance with federal voter purge requirements on the same day Kobach, vice chairman of the commission, sent a letter to election officials in 50 states asking for voter data. Last week, for example, the panel's co-chair, voter-suppression pioneer Kris Kobach, claimed to have uncovered "proof" of systemic fraud in New Hampshire - claims that were quickly discredited as transparent nonsense. There's your leap in logic. "The commission does not have the ability to do a Jedi mind trick on a state legislature and force them to adopt anything".
- Ask three statistical experts from accredited colleges or universities to independently study whatever data is submitted to the commission and testify before the commission. Even if it does make recommendations, he said, the commission can't force states to adopt them.
Shortly after his inauguration, Trump pushed the bogus claim that "thousands" of people were bused into New Hampshire from MA to vote illegally, a falsehood that New Hampshire election officials and even Granite State Republicans immediately discredited.
"I did send a private email in February to private individuals who were in the administration to express my personal concerns about the efficacy" of the commission, he said. "If someone is domiciled in New Hampshire - and has a vehicle - then within 60 days, they need to obtain a driver's license". To be clear, there is no proof of widespread illegal voting or voter fraud in the 2016 election - or in any American election. "The Trump/Pence/Kobach commission does not represent the diversity of people across this country who deserve to have their voices heard at the ballot box".
New Hampshire's other Democratic senator, Jeanne Shaheen, said in a statement that claims of voter fraud in the state and nationwide "undermine confidence in our elections and democracy and create a dishonest rationale for voter suppression laws". Yet, in the recent finding, as of August 30, which is 10 months following the local senate elections, "only 1,014 of the 6,540 same-day registrants who registered with an out-of-state license had obtained a New Hampshire driver's license".
"We often get complaints that there are out-of-state students voting, but it is legal in New Hampshire to have a MA driver's license or MA plates on your cars, and paying out-of-state tuition to the university, and still be eligible to vote because you are domiciled in New Hampshire, meaning you spend most of your nights here", he said. "We're going to search for the truth".
But Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap, a Democrat whose office is in charge of both elections and driver's licenses, slammed the idea that there is any connection between a person's driver's license and his or her eligibility to vote. The only way the right can swing elections their way is through draconian voter ID laws, limiting the number of polling stations and machines in areas where voters support progressive policies and gerrymandering. It is a role based entirely on citizens freely exercising our most fundamental right - the right to vote. Driving is a privilege. Dunlap says just because someone doesn't have an in-state driver's license doesn't mean they've committed voter fraud.
