Australian actor Rebel Wilson has been awarded $4.56m AUD (£2.76m) in damages after winning her country's largest libel case - but she won't be keeping any of the money.

Australian actress Rebel Wilson has won a NZ$5 million legal payout from the publisher of articles calling her a serial liar. The actress successfully sued Bauer Media for publishing "grubby" articles that stifled her career in Hollywood.

"I'm looking forward to getting back to entertaining everyone!"

Wilson claimed the magazine's defamatory articles made her lose subsequent roles and opportunities.

The 37-year-old Wilson, best known for the comedies "Pitch Perfect" and "Bridesmaids", was in London on Wednesday and her lawyers were unable to immediately talk to her about the decision. You know Woman's Day.

Dixon said the damage to the actress' reputation was "unprecedented" and she suffered "financial loss".

At trial, and in the full media glare, Bauer media attempted to characterise its articles as true, or as trivial, or as not likely to be taken seriously.

21st Century Fox "Surprised" By CMA Referral Decision
At the close of trading Sky shares were 937 pence, down 1.6 per cent and significantly short of Fox's £10.75 offer. Rupert Murdoch's Fox, which owns 39% of Sky, wants to buy the shares it does not already own.

After four weeks of hearing testimony from Wilson herself, local journalists and several Hollywood celebrities, the jury of six at Victoria's Supreme Court found unanimously in her favour.

In a series of tweets, Wilson said the judgment was the "end of a long and hard court battle against Bauer Media who viciously tried to take me down with a series of false articles".

The judgement was nearly four times the previous highest defamation finding in Australian legal history.

She had sought more than AU$7 million. "But I think when I did go to America, I kind of just stopped saying my age". When the jury delivered its verdict they answered every single question in my favor. "I have been awarded a record sum from Justice Dixon".

Will the real Rebel Wilson please stand up?

Wilson was not in court when the money was awarded but was present in June when the initial judgement was given.
