Myanmar said on September 6 it is negotiating with China and Russian Federation to ensure they block any UN Security Council censure over the violence that has forced an exodus of almost 150,000 Rohingya Muslims to Bangladesh in less than two weeks.

Emine Erdogan was accompanied by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Bangladesh Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, deputy commissioner of Cox's Bazar, the district superintendent of police and other top-level government officials of both countries, reports our local correspondent from the spot.

The impoverished region bordering Bangladesh has been a crucible of communal tensions between Muslims and Buddhists for years, with the Rohingya forced to live under apartheid-like restrictions on movement and citizenship.

Almost 150,000 Muslims have fled Myanmar for Bangladesh in less than two weeks, officials said. "Refugees are now squatting in makeshift shelters that have mushroomed along the road and on available land".

Malaysia expects to see numerous people seeking shelter in its territory in the next few weeks, said Zulkifli Abu Bakar, the director general of Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency said and the country is prepared for it. She noted that there could be some double-counting in the estimated tally. "It really means that we have to step up our response and that the situation in Myanmar has to be addressed urgently", Tan added. We need to look at it objectively and not emotionally. "We are not prepared here for such a huge number", he said. "It will continue for weeks and weeks".

Al-Azhar, the world's top Muslim Sunni institution, said Friday that it would lead humanitarian efforts on an worldwide level to stop the massacre, genocide and ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

Myanmar has said it is negotiating with China and Russian Federation to ensure they block any Security Council censure over the crisis.

"We have to take care of our citizens, we have to take care of everybody who is in our country, whether or not they are our citizens", Suu Kyi said in comments to Reuters Television's Indian partner, Asian News International.

Myanmar's security forces have been attacking the Rohingya Muslims and torching their villages since October 2016 in a bid to push them out of the western state of Rakhine.

Relaying accounts of massacres at the hands of Myanmar security forces and Buddhist vigilantes that started on August 25, the sick, wounded and elderly have received a cold and hostile reception by their closest neighbour. "At the same time, they have a responsibility to carry out those activities in accordance with rule of law and worldwide human rights".
