'It' Child Actors Hadn't Seen Pennywise Until Their First Scene With Him

  • Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise in the horror thriller

Now, Andy Muschietti (Mama, 2013) successfully paints a new picture of the world of Derry, Maine, with a darker, more sinister brush in the first big-screen adaptation of the 1986 Stephen King novel IT.

Skarsgård's Pennywise is featured a little too heavy throughout the film to build up the fear of his character, but he no doubt has the power to make your palms sweat.

Then there's the horror element - which is, arguably, the main draw of the movie.

"It" will be the biggest domestic launch since Spider-Man: Homecoming (July 7), considering the opening week collections, if it actually ends its maiden week past $100 million.

Bill Skarsgaard (Atomic Blonde) does Pennywise, and like Tim Curry from 1990 TV mini-series, he's pretty good. Their summer is riddled with constant disappearances of kids in their small town.

Tropical Storm Jose forms over the open Atlantic
The Mexican state of Veracruz has a hurricane watch in effect and the storm is now about 185 miles North-Northwest of Veracruz. If the layer of warm water isn't at least 200 feet deep, a tropical storm could die before gaining hurricane strength.

Moviegoers who see the new Stephen King movie "IT" may recognize a lot of similarities between the fictional city of Derry and the real city of Bangor. Relatively weak competition throughout the month of September should give IT legs for the next few weeks; the horror rush as we approach Halloween may just keep the film going strong throughout October as well. In an age where horror has been reduced to jump scares, and torture porn, it's nice to see a film that has genuinely horrifying imagery and a plot that drags you deeper into the monster's web. We can probably expect Bill Skarsgard to return as Pennywise, though!

The report comes to us from /Film, who says producers Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg have already gotten to work on a sequel.

"There was a point in my career where people were calling me Horrormeister and, you know, the scary guy". It will make you squirm even if you aren't afraid of clowns. "The first time when we were doing the camera tests when I saw Bill in full regalia, I lost it", said Barbara Muschietti.

After the movie is over, there is laughter from Pennywise the Clown heard.

There was that bizarrely unsettling business with killer clowns amidst last year's election cycle, something which went on to inspire the story for the latest season of American Horror Story.
