Ezekiel Elliott and NFLPA take legal action against NFL

The NFLPA's filing calls for the court to vacate any suspension of Elliott, accusing the league's appeal process of being "fundamentally unfair" and citing new facts revealed during this week's hearing that wrapped up Thursday.

In the petition that Kessler filed, the NFLPA claims that there was a "league-orchestrated conspiracy by senior NFL executives ... to hide critical information".

Roberts testified that she informed Lisa Friel, who investigates domestic violence cases for the NFL, but she wasn't allowed to meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell or other advisors.

As Deadline reported in July 2016, Tiffany Thompson, who claimed to be Elliott's girlfriend, had accused the National Football League star of domestic abuse, telling police he'd "struck her several times leaving bruises on her arms".

The union will attempt to persuade a court to agree that Goodell's suspension of Elliott can't stand, even if Henderson backs it. Elliott denied the allegations and was never charged or arrested.

Every game for Scotland has been a must-win and here we are, four points off second, and it really is a must-win. England had their biggest win in two years - and that was exactly how long this match felt.

Elliott, who was penalized last month for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy, is accused of abusing his ex-girlfriend Tiffany Thompson.

Ezekiel Elliott isn't taking his six-game ban lying down. The former Ohio State star took heavy criticism when a video of the incident was released at the time, but in testimony given this week, Elliott said the incident was consensual, adding that the two had sex later that evening. However, as with Brady, Elliott might be able to play an entire season before his case is resolved, if he and the NFLPA can get the injunction and begin working their way through the court system.

It's unknown how long it will take Henderson to come to a decision, though there was a report on Thursday afternoon that he is being pressured to do so by Monday, and that the expectation is Elliott's suspension will be reduced. "The credibility issues were addressed at length in the investigative report". The short answer is that Elliott is looking to avoid a suspension altogether.

If Henderson affirms any part of the suspension, Elliott will need U.S. District Judge Amos Mazzant to grant the restraining order to be eligible for the season opener September 10 against the New York Giants. Although the 2016 season's rushing leader denied all claims regarding the incident, Henderson must thoroughly assess both sides of the case before coming to a decision, and not be too pressured by the added weight of expectations coming from such a prolific player and the franchise he plays for.
