  • PSLV-C39 carrying IRNSS-1H series satellite to be launched on Aug 31

The ISRO on Thursday launched navigation satellite "IRNSS-1H" from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. Due to a malfunction, the satellite, called IRNSS-1H, became inadvertently trapped within the heat shield fairing, which preventing it from being deployed into the correct orbit.

On his part, Dr K Kasturirangan, former chairman, ISRO, said every flight of rockets are fraught with risks and therefore have to be dealt with great amount of care and attentiveness.

"It is created to provide accurate position information service to users in India as well as the region extending up to 1500 km from its boundary, which is its primary service area", ISRO said. So, the mission is unsuccessful. "The satellite is inside the heat shield".

This was the first failure of an Indian space mission involving ISRO's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle after 39 successful launches in a row. ISRO IRNSS 1H Satellite will be launched from the second launch pad of Sriharikota Space Port.

The navigation system would have been helpful for railways in tracking trains and also giving alerts for unmanned level crossings.

In fact, Kim and Ri's marriage wasn't even confirmed until 2012, at which point they'd been married for roughly three years. She visited South Korea in 2005 as a cheerleader for her country's squad in the Asian Athletics Championships.

Like the previous satellites in the series, IRNSS-1H had a navigation payload and a ranging payload.

IRNSS-1A, launched on July 1, 2013, will, however, continue to provide messaging services. The Rs 1420-crore independent regional navigation satellite system is developed by India and is similar to Global Positioning System (GPS) of the United States, which has 24 satellites in the orbit. Importantly, the satellite had three functioning, highly accurate Rubidium atomic clocks on board. The navigation payload of IRNSS-1H will transmit navigation service signals to the users.

The satellite weighed over 1,400kg, and had been built and tested by ISRO.

According to ISRO, NavIC is useful for fishermen to reach the potential fishing area.

These services are provided through a software application on a smart phone.

NAVIC, which is a system of seven satellites, powers India's homegrown Global Positioning System.
