"NAFTA is one of the worst trade deals ever signed at anytime, anywhere in the world", Trump said.

On Monday, Trump again said the US may need to at least start the process of terminating NAFTA before it can reach a desirable deal. The parties involved pledged to adopt quick procedures to update the agreement.

Last week, Trump threatened to shut down the government if he Congress could not secure funding for the wall's construction. In fact, he's oblivious to the country even offering to help with the recovery, because, you guessed it, he still wants Mexico to pay for the border wall. "Mexico will pay for it through a refund or otherwise", Trump tweeted.

President Trump also called out Mexico for the country's cartel violence and claimed that the government will eventually pay for the promised border wall. When Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was asked about Trump's tweet to scrap NAFTA agreement, the Prime Minister reportedly said that there is nothing new to the threat by President Trump.

This would require additional Homeland Security personnel along the border, and tougher security measures in the face of violent crime syndicates infiltrating the US. "They had a sweetheart deal for so many years", Trump said.

The Canadian dollar, which has strengthened more than 2.5 per cent in the last two weeks and was outperforming other major currencies, traded between $1.2445 and $1.2485, and was on track to test the recent high of $1.2414, or 80.55 USA cents. "Both being very hard, may have to terminate?"

"I don't think we can make a deal because we have been so badly taken advantage of", Trump said at the rally.

The Mexican government expressed its solidarity Sunday with the United States following the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey and offered assistance to Texas.

"It's a different strategy", Ricketts said during a telephone interview from Omaha, and it has led Trump to withdraw the United States from the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement in favor of bilateral trade negotiations.

Today, as the current spending extension bill nears its end, it remains unclear if Trump and Congress can once again agree on a measure that doesn't cover the 1,954-mile wall's expenses.

Trump raised the possibility of a government shutdown over wall funding at a fiery August 22 campaign rally in Phoenix.
