Olympian David Torrence Found Dead Monday in Scottsdale

AMERICAN MIDDLE-DISTANCE runner David Torrence, who competed for Peru at the 2016 Rio Olympics, has been found dead in Arizona at the age of 31.

The runner had moved from L.A.to Arizona a few weeks ago to train for more races. Torrence, whose mother was born in Peru and has dual citizenship, competed for Peru in the 5,000-meter at the Olympic Games Rio 2016 and finished 15th.

Thirty-one-year-old David Torrence was found in Scottsdale, Arizona on August 28.

"Firefighters removed the male subject from the pool and he was pronounced deceased", according to Sgt.

Officials do not believe any foul play was involved in Torrence's death, but a medical examiner is still working to determine the cause of death. "So so sad to hear of his passing".

Earlier this month, he was in the United Kingdom to compete in the IAAF World Championships in London and then the Diamond League event in Birmingham.
