Corker was unrelenting, these people said, and told Trump the bill was going to pass both houses with bipartisan support.

Corker, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, may have felt more at liberty to speak up last week, in the aftermath of Trump's much-criticized response to a violent white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, in part because he has maintained a relationship with the president.

During the 2016 presidential election, Corker worked as a foreign policy adviser to Trump, and is now the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

His tweet Friday morning may have been sparked by a reporter asking White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders about his comments on Thursday.

"Strange statement by Bob Corker considering that he is constantly asking me whether or not he should run again in '18", the president wrote, evidently referencing Corker's criticism of Trump's leadership earlier this month.

According to The Tennessean, Carr said Corker has been "too critical of the president and publicly outspoken".

32 killed in Myanmar Terror Attacks
But most who made it to the border with Bangladesh were stranded, as the government in Dhaka effectively closed its border with Myanmar .

Corker is the latest Republican senator to criticize Trump's handling of the Charlottesville protests. Corker said he felt compelled to voice criticism of Donald Trump after the president said white supremacists didn't bear all the blame for a melee in Charlottesville, Virginia, where a woman was killed after being struck by a auto driven into a crowd.

Trump expressed frustration over a bipartisan bill sanctioning Russian Federation and tried to convince Senate Foreign Relations Chairman [Corker] that it wasn't good policy, according to three people familiar with the call.

In a tweet, Trump called the Corker's remarks last week "strange".

Bob Corker's (R-Tenn.) concerns about the president, Trump's spokesperson added that the senator's rhetoric has been "ridiculous and outrageous", and "doesn't dignify a response from this podium". Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), describing him as "weak on crime & border", and blamed Sen. We should say that loud and clear. Corker is up for re-election in the 2018. "But there are things that I think any rational person would say I wish he hadn't said this or done that".

Trump had no public schedule Friday.

Surveys from this spring and summer, conducted by Vanderbilt University and the nonpartisan Morning Consult for Politico, showed Corker with 52 percent job approval.
