The Port of Galveston shut down at noon on Friday in preparation for Harvey, which eventually made landfall as a category 4 hurricane.

Hurricane Harvey has many vacationers anxious about how the storm will impact their plans, especially people planning to take cruises out of Galveston.

Currently, the Carnival Freedom and Carnival Valor are at sea in the middle of their voyage.

Cruise ships carrying an estimated 20,000 passengers were stranded in the Gulf of Mexico on Saturday as Hurricane Harvey left the Port of Galveston closed. It is expected to remain closed until the storm has passed and a port assessment has been completed.

Peter Simons, interim director for the Port of Galveston, said officials are still trying to determine if it will be safe for ships to call on Galveston Sunday. She added that the third ship will spend the night docked in Cozumel and depart for Galveston tomorrow. Carnival Breeze is currently docked in Cozumel and will now overnight there.

The duration of your cruise will have to be shortened and the itinerary modified.

For a lot of people, their first port of call is a Google search: terms such as " depression " or "am I depressed" are common. Technology giant Google launched a special questionnaire that will assist users in the U.S. suffering from depression .

The upcoming voyages on Freedom and Valor next week will be shortened and guests will be refunded for the days that were shaved off the voyages.

"We're working with the cruise lines, the Coast Guard and the pilots to see what can be done to bring the cruise ships in as quickly but as safely as possible", Simons said in a statement.

Carnival said they would give future cruise credits to anyone who chooses not to sail. To stay up to date, please sign up for text alerts by texting the codes below to CRUISE (278473).

Royal Caribbean's Liberty of the Seas began making its way back to Galveston from Cozumel, Mexico, on Friday - but was "keeping a safe distance behind the storm", cruise line spokesman Owen Torres told The Washington Post. "Should we make any changes to Liberty of the Seas' itinerary, we will make sure to inform our guests".

According to ABC13.com, the Galveston port authority announced the four cruise ships involved include three Carnival Cruise Line vessels and a Royal Caribbean International vessel, none of which will be permitted to enter port until Tuesday at the earliest.
