  • Silence is Violence

The challenge for law enforcement comes after an August 12 rally of white supremacists in Charlottesville, Va., that turned deadly, killing one counterprotester and two state troopers.

Now they are back for a weekend of provocations on Saturday, August 26 in San Francisco and Sunday, August 27 in Berkeley.

Dog walkers are being invited to let their pet's shit freely on a beach where a right wing rally is due to take place this weekend.

After violence during protests in Charlottesville, Virginia resulted in a counterprotestor's death, many San Francisco residents are grappling with how best to respond.

Tuffy Tuffington was wrestling last week with how to civilly protest the upcoming conservative "Patriot Prayer" rally in San Francisco when his two dogs began "doing their business" in Golden Gate Park.

People hoping to disrupt a "Patriot Prayer" event scheduled for Saturday are rallying behind an effort to strew dog turds around the area where the event will be held. We haven't changed the law.

"We can not deny a permit to anyone planning to exercise their First Amendment rights based on their political stance or beliefs", the statement said.

The mayor urged locals to instead attend city-hosted events on Friday and Saturday that he said would focus on "inclusion, compassion and love rather than hate".

San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee called the planned event "shameful" and accused the group of trying to "incite violence" with their so-called "free speech" demonstration that thousands are expected to attend.

People avoiding Saturday's right-wing "Patriot Prayer" rally at Crissy Field or counter-protests elsewhere might still be inconvenienced by the events, as the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency says they'll be pre-emptively disrupting bus service, closing the cable auto and historic streetcar lines, and even closing some roads to vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians. The counter-protestors plan to return and clean up the fecal detritus shortly after the neo-Nazi fuckers are done marching in crap. The plan is to bring out the pups ahead of time and plant some poop bombs across the rally site, Crissy Field in The Presidio.

Yet, there are calls by counterprotesters for people to join them in force at Crissy Field to "send a message that hate has no safe space" in the city.

Berkeley city officials passed a temporary rule to give police more power to ban weapons. More recently, the University of California at Berkeley has come under criticism for what some have characterized as suppression of unpopular views. "What we don't tolerate is people using the concept of freedom of speech to commit violence". "We want to do everything possible to encourage people not to show up at the event".

In February, officials at the University of California at Berkeley were forced to cancel a talk by right-wing provocateur and Trump supporter Milo Yiannopoulos after black-clad protesters hurled smoke bombs and sparked a huge bonfire.
