  • A Look at Who Is Behind the Boston Free Speech Rally

As tens of thousands of anti-racism protesters descended on Boston to counter a Free Speech rally that many anxious would attract the same white supremacist, alt-right crowd seen in Charlottesville, Virginia, President Donald Trump again chose to respond to "both sides". Most of the arrests were for disorderly conduct. We don't need that type of rhetoric going on in Boston Common.

The rally, which was planned before racially motivated protests in Charlottesville, Virginia, turned deadly last week, took place amid a heated national debate about racism and the future of Confederate monuments - but the Boston march and rally were largely peaceful.

But Walsh and other critics say numerous speakers invited to the rally "spew hate".

Dallas police are preparing for a rally against white supremacy and say they'll have extra officers on hand to avoid the kind of violence that wracked Charlottesville, Virginia.

The conservative Free Speech ralliers were vastly outnumbered by counterprotesters, who carried signs denouncing Nazis and other white supremacist groups.

Organizers of a counterprotest expect as many as 20,000 to 30,000 people to join them on a 2-mile (3.2-kilometer) march. "No KKK. No racist USA" and "Americans against hate".

The 8-ounce gloves certainly help because it is less padding that in turn makes punches more effective. IT'S the fight few thought would happen - there weren't even many who thought it could happen.

Boston-area leaders of Black Livers Matter said Friday that they don't buy claims that the rally planned for Saturday is not about white supremacy.

Police maintained a buffer zone between marchers and rally participants - averting major incidents except for occasional clashes and shouting matches between the counterprotesters and supporters of Trump.

On Saturday, Trump on Twitter praised the Boston protesters.

An estimated 30,000 to 40,000 counter-protestors marched in Boston on Saturday, demonstrating against a right-wing rally one week after the terrorist attack in Charlottesville, Va., that killed 32-year-old Heather Heyer and injured 19 others. "Love, not hate. We stand together against intolerance".
