  • Pakistan cricketer Zubair Ahmed dies after being hit by bouncer

This news has come just hours after Australian star David Warner was hit in the head by a ball from Josh Hazlewood during a practice match in Darwin in Australia.

Tragedy hits Pakistan cricket as young cricketer Zubair Ahmed died after being hit by a bouncer during a match at Mardan on 14th August, on Pakistan's Independence day.

It served as the latest reminder of the dangers of the sport that were highlighted so tragically by the death of Phillip Hughes, a close friend of Warner, in 2014.

Media reports from Pakistan suggested that Ahmed, who played four matches for Quetta Bears, was hit on the head during a game Monday and succumbed to injuries Wednesday. "Our sympathies with Zubair's family", read the tweet. Noted commentator and former Australian player Dean Jones expressed condolences via twitter.

Benjamin Habib, a Korea expert at Australia's La Trobe University, said opinions about military drills fall into two broad camps. It appears to signal a path to defuse the crisis by saying Kim would watch any USA behaviour before giving the order to fire.

In May, Cricket Australia made it compulsory for players to wear helmets when facing fast and medium-paced bowling in line with recommendations from a review into the death of Hughes. He was rushed to hospital, but passed away two days later.

The coach had said that the deceased cricketer was wearing all safety gears including helmet while he was practising.

A tweet from the PCB seemed to indicate that Zubair may have been batting without a helmet.
