  • President Donald Trump speaks while Kenneth Frazier chairman and chief executive officer of Merck & Co. right listens during a meeting with manufacturing executives in the State Dining Room of the White House in Washington D.C. U.S. on Thursday Fe

After President Donald Trump's response to the violent protests in Charlottesville, Virginia, one pharmaceutical CEO is distancing himself from the White House.

Trump still hasn't mentioned the domestic terror attack by racists in Charlottesville that killing one and wounded nineteen, but he has plenty of time to scold a CEO for resigning from his manufacturing council.

"As CEO of Merck and as a matter of personal conscience, I feel a responsibility to take a stand against intolerance and extremism", he said.

Trump, who remains on vacation at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, responded to Frazier's resignation with a tweet of his own. Merck has a facility in Upper Gwynedd Township and is Montgomery County's largest employer.

Mr Frazier is not the first executive to resign from advisory councils serving Mr Trump.

Trump is under increasing pressure to call out the white supremacist and hate groups involved.

"The President said very strongly in his statement yesterday that he condemns all forms of violence, bigotry, and hatred".

A spokesman for Merck said the company had no further comment about Frazier's decision, his tweet or the USA president's response. But after lots of bluster on his campaign, Trump seems to have abandoned plans to make medicines more affordable for Americans.

Victoria Justice announced on stage that Miley "couldn't make it" to the show and instead, Jake Hall would be her replacement. Miley went on to state that she looks forward to making music and sharing it with her fans for the rest of her life.

Unilever CEO Paul Polman wrote on Twitter, "Thanks @Merck Ken Frazier for strong leadership to stand up for the moral values that made this country what it is".

President Donald Trump is back at the White House and ignoring shouted questions about the race-fueled clashes in in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Other chief executives have also stepped down from the various business-advisory groups pulled together by the Trump administration.

In several television interviews on Monday, Sessions said Trump had "explicitly condemned" violence and that "he totally opposes" the values espoused by white supremacy organizations.

With the barb, Trump appeared to attack an industry executive who has maneuvered to push prices lower, at least on some drugs.

Tesla chief executive Elon Musk and Walt Disney chief executive Robert Iger quit the Strategic and Policy Forum in June after Mr Trump announced the United States would withdraw from the Paris climate accord.

Frazier is not the first corporate chieftain to resign in protest from one of the U.S. president's advisory councils. Frazier is one of a few black CEOs of Fortune 500 companies and was personally invited to join Trump's newly minted council shortly after the president's inauguration, per CNN Money.
