On Sunday, Scaramucci also addressed the expletive-ridden phone call with New Yorker reporter Ryan Lizza, where he blasted Bannon and former White House Chief of Staff Reince Preibus.

"I wouldn't have recommended that statement", Mr Scaramucci said of President Trump's decision to criticise violence "on many sides" but not clearly condemn white supremacists.

"I get to work together with a broad range of talented people and it is a privilege every day to enable the national security team", McMaster said, an answer he regurgitated three times as Todd continued to press him on his views of Bannon.

The narrative is notably similar to the one used by MSNBC hosts Joe Scarborough and Mike Brezinski, themselves good friends with the Jared and Ivanka faction which includes Deputy National Security Advisor Dina Powell and economic advisor Gary Cohn.

"Do you believe that Steve Bannon does that", Todd asked. "If the President really wants to execute that legislative agenda that I think is so promising for the American people... then he has to move away from that sort of Bannonbart nonsense".

Trump said he condemned "hatred, bigotry and violence - on many sides. on many sides".

On July 22nd, Scaramucci appeared on the Breitbart News Saturday radio show, declaring: "I think that one of the things that Breitbart has done has captured the spirit of what is actually going on in this country".

Speaking with ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos on This Week, Scaramucci criticized the influence of the website Breitbart and Steve Bannon, who was the executive chairman of Breitbart before joining the Trump campaign and later the administration, saying that there's "this sort of "Bannon-bart" influence" in the White House that he thinks "is a snag on the president".

It added to the attacks the president has received from the right since his statement.

Scaramucci's appearance Sunday on ABC's "This Week" marked his first interview since his brief tenure as communications director ended abruptly about two weeks ago.

His job was on the line in April, according to a source close to the White House, after Trump grew frustrated with his inability to cooperate and work with others.

Scaramucci also failed to elaborate on these "moderates and independents", who he claimed would support the President's legislative agenda if the "micro Bannonbart" group was ostracised.

STEPHANOPOULOS: You've been tough on Steve Bannon. I'm not trying to suck my own c**k.

Trump added: "Steve is a good guy, but I told them to straighten it out or I will".

The White House did not immediately respond to CNNMoney's request for comment about Scaramucci's remarks.

A report earlier this month said McMaster believes Bannon is behind negative leaks about him.
