  • Trump: North Korea will be met with

Despite President Trump tweeting this morning US military is "locked and loaded" to deal with North Korea, the reality might be very different.

"I was not elected, the American people elected the president", he said.

Even as President Donald Trump says the United States military is "locked and loaded" to potentially unleash "fire and fury" on North Korea, the two feuding countries have been holding secretive, back-channel talks, The Associated Press reported Friday.

It's the latest warning since he said earlier this week that North Korea faces "retaliation with fire and fury unlike any the world has seen before".

The statement says that "only absolute force" can work on someone as "bereft of reason" as Trump.

The UN Security Council on August 5 voted unanimously to impose new sanctions on North Korea.

"But the last person in the world you want to give a missile with a nuclear weapon on top is Kim Jong Un, given the way he's treated his own people, and what he's said about us".

"The UK stands shoulder to shoulder with the U.S.in tackling this threat and many others".

"I don't tell the enemy in advance what we are going to do", he said, adding that in the event of an attack, "We are ready". "The Secretary General welcomes all initiatives that will help deescalate tensions and welcomes a return to diplomacy".

The issue came to the fore again this week when USA intelligence analysts assessed that North Korea had produced a miniaturized nuclear warhead, according to multiple sources, which would bring the country a significant step closer to being able to fire a nuclear-tipped warhead at the US or its allies.

The U.N.in the past has had an envoy for North Korea, but Dujarric says "every situation is different and it's important not to make empty gestures".

There are about 29,000 American troops permanently stationed in South Korea. The ongoing talks, which were first reported by The Associated Press, included discussions about U.S.
