Rangnick's comments follow from Liverpool's unsuccessful attempts to sign Keita, and he has insisted the player will remain at the club this upcoming season.

Liverpool are expected to return for Keita next summer when a release clause of around the €50m mark will be active in the midfielder's contract.

Rangnick added: "I can assure you that Naby is playing with us this season".

However, RB Leipzig are still hoping to convince Keita to sign a new contract which would remove the clause.

Keita's current deal with Leipzig runs until June 2020. "All other scenarios also depend on how we do this season, how Naby plays himself and so on".

"We do not want to prove to anyone that we can create market value [by selling players], we want to be successful in sport".

"It's 100 percent that Naby will play this year at Leipzig".

Liverpool have agreed terms with the player, but at the moment Leipzig have batted away all their offers.

The Guinea global was crucial to the fledgling club finishing second in their maiden Bundesliga season in 2016/17 and reaching the Champions League eight years after their formation.
