The meaning of the feast, which will be presented at Christmas, Quebec, is one of the forty-seven of the films in the programming 2017 to the Toronto Festival, which were announced this morning.

Jolie's drama, "First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers", is adapted from Cambodian human rights activist Loung Ung's memoir of the same name.

Some of the most anticipated features to have made it to the festival include Guillermo del Toro's adult fairy tale The Shape of Water, Alexander Payne's Matt Damon-starring comedy Downsizing, Darren Aronofsky's Mother!, George Clooney s Suburbico, and Martin McDonagh's Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Organisers of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) - the largest in North America - will focus this year on female directors, screenwriters and actresses, in response to criticism that such events are too male-dominated.

Along with the Telluride Film Festival, which takes place September 1-4, TIFF has been used as a launch pad by studios for films that have gone on to win Best Picture at the Oscars - previous examples include "The Hurt Locker", "Slumdog Millionaire", "Crash" and "American Beauty".

The film, directed by Clooney and written by Joel and Ethan Coen, stars Damon, Julianne Moore and Oscar Issac.

This is the new film of the tandem of film directors Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache, to whom we owe the huge success of Intouchables in 2011.

The festival runs until September 17.

Earlier this year, the festival announced it's cutting two programs and reducing the overall number of titles it will screen for this year's edition by 20 per cent.
