'Slime eels' turn OR highway into gooey mess after truck overturns

One of the containers hit a auto traveling the opposite direction, while the rest of the containers spilled off the back of the truck, causing the pileup and leaving more than 7,500 pounds (3,401 kilograms) on eels on the road.

Police did say there was so much slime on the street because the animals secrete the stuff when they are stressed out. Sad! No-one else was injured.

The eels were going to be shipped to Korea for consumption, police said.

Eels, also called hagfish, are a delicacy in South Korea, and many fisheries in OR ship them there live.

But the sea creatures didn't garner any sympathies.

An Oregon highway looked like a scene out of a science-fiction film after a truck filled with eels overturned on Thursday, leaving a slippery film of goo in its wake.

There were only minor injuries reported from Nissan, which was the first vehicle to be struck by the container.

It's also unclear if patients whose cancer goes into remission will be cured or will have their cancer return eventually. CAR-T therapy is a high risk approach, and little is known about any long-term toxicity effects of treatments.

The truck was traveling Oregon's highways because in the 2000s, Korea overfished the slimy creatures and began looking to imports from foreign countries to meet domestic demand.

"It was liquid eel", Erin Butler, a witness to the accident, told CBS affiliate KOIN 6. They then tie themselves into a knot, sliding the slime off their scale-less skin in the process, making them hard to capture.

Oregon State Police, along with other local agencies, responded to the slimy scene.

One of the vehicles involved in the "slime eel" accident in OR on Thursday.

"We were like, "What is that?' And then you realise, 'The poor eels"," she said.

The incident happened Thursday afternoon on Highway 101 along the coast of OR, approximately 90 miles southwest of Portland.

"It was disgusting. I will definitely never, ever eat eel".
