Christopher "Fresh Kid Ice" Wong Won, a founding member of rap group 2 Live Crew, died Thursday, according to his agent. Famously, the group's 1989 album As Nasty As They Wanna Be became the first album to be declared legally obscene by a court.

In addition to being an energetic outfit, 2 Live Crew were considered unsafe for their time, freely and graphically rapping about sex and misogyny before such practices were widely adopted by other rappers. The trio them hooked up with Luther Campbell when they signed with his recording label. A judge ruled he violated federal obscenity laws. He formed 2 Live Crew, the influential Miami hip-hop act, in the early '80s.

Uncle Luke and other notable artists paid homage to Fresh Kid Ice, who was also known as "The Chinaman" on social media. Even so, the group reformed in 1994 and lasted until 1998.
