It could be the reason why Huawei and KFC have partnered to create....a KFC phone.

As AdAge, KFC was among the first Western brands to arrive in China, and the inaugural year of 1987 is emblazoned alongside the image of the Colonel on the back of the handset. Well, that's a marvellous way to celebrate the anniversary in the region that's the biggest maker of smartphones.

What's so special about this limited edition?

The chicken-lover's dream piece of tech is a collaboration with Chinese manufacturer Huawei, with both the chicken chain's logo and Huawei's logo adorning the bright red casing of the limited edition Huawei 7 Plus.

KFC and Huawei are celebrating 30 years in China with a limited-edition smartphone

In news that nearly seems too absurd to be true, that appears to be the general idea behind Chinese electronics company Huawei's production of a smartphone emblazoned with the Colonel's smiling face and a phrase that translates roughly to "Established 1987", the year that KFC opened up shop in China.

It comes just as KFC launched its healthy eating restaurant in Hangzhou where it serves salad and sandwiches. The base model of the device ships with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal flash memory, while its more premium variant features 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space. It features a 5.5-inch screen with a 720p resolution and runs on a Snapdragon 435 chip. The brand, which is best known for its innovative smart phones, ranked third in market share of the global smartphone market in the last quarter of 2016.

The device will come pre-loaded with a Chinese KFC app that lets users see offers and order food, as well as a new music app that allows KFC phone owners pick and choose the playlists at their local chicken shacks.
