Mexico shines in Gold Cup debut

Mexico began their Gold Cup title defence with an easy 3-1 win over El Salvador at Qualcomm Stadium here.

Juan Carlos Osorio has been suspended following the FIFA Confederations Cup for acting aggressively towards FIFA officials, FIFA announced on Friday.

With USA starting off the Gold Cup with a frustrating 1-1 draw with Panama, Mexico will have only cemented their status as tournament favorites in the early going.

Osorio may have been serving out the first game in his six-match suspension, but his trademark nuances in the team selection were very much on the team sheet.
