"Homecoming" was one of the biggest tests yet for the notion that domestic moviegoers are growing tired of sequels and reboots and suffering so-called "franchise fatigue". Without the newly forged ties to Marvel's multi-year juggernaut, it's hard to say what the reception would look like for the latest fresh take on Spider-Man. "There's a really awesome picture from the comics where Spider-Man is sitting on a lamppost staring at Hulk, and I think that could be a really... there's so many jokes you can make about the big green guy, so I think that would be a lot of fun".

After keeping the buzz high for the past couple of weeks, Tom Holland starrer Sony's Spider-Man: Homecoming finally made its way to the theatres and has already broken the records set by the franchise.

Asked who he would like Spider-Man to join in the future, Holland told MTV, "I really like the idea of Spider-Man and Hulk". That allows the hero to be a part of Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe that includes Iron Man, Captain America and the rest of the Avengers. Peter go after the Vulture (played by Michael Keaton), and stars Zendaya as Michelle, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Laura Harrier as Liz Allan (Peter's crush), Tony Revolori as Flash, and Jacob Batalon as Peter's best friend, Ned. Spider-Man 3 (2007), his third and final entry, debuted the strongest at $151 million.

With its opening on July 7, the film earned a total amount of $50.5 million from 4,248 locations at the domestic box office.

"It's a triumphant return for Spider-Man", said Josh Greenstein, Sony Pictures' president of worldwide marketing and distribution.

United States economy added 220000 jobs in June
The report revised May's comparatively sombre report, adding a net 47,000 jobs to the totals for that month and to April. Over the past three months, job gains have averaged 194,000 a month, far outpacing the rate most economists expected.

The big box office numbers are a win for Sony, Marvel and Spidey himself. After the infamous 2014 Sony hack, Pascal was ousted from her post at the top of the studio, and began to focus on producing.

Acclaimed action-musical Baby Driver, starring Ansel Elgort and Jon Hamm, parked in third with $12.8 million. Starting with "Despicable Me 3", which is headed for a $34 million second frame, or a 53% drop from last weekend. It's also the second-largest opening weekend ever for a Sony picture.

For now, we can just forget about the sequels, because we can enjoy Spider-Man: Homecoming currently out in theaters!

This is yet another Marvel movie release that has managed to capture the approval of critics and audience members - something the DC Extended Universe could not claim until this summer with "Wonder Woman".
