Overwatch Lore Update Teases Doomfist

  • The latest Overwatch PTR patch notes have been revealed

Overwatch players have been waiting for a specific character to debut ever since Blizzard Entertainment released its team-based shooter: Doomfist.

This event took place about three months before Ogundimu reclaimed the Doomfist weapon during the Numbani airport attack. That's because back in February Blizzard added a bunch of damage around the map, including a smashed wall with the game's most recently released playable character, Orisa, being plastered to the wall at the point of impact.

Doomfist, the name of a long-lost Disturbed album and probably also a villain in season 57 of Power Rangers, is today's big Overwatch discussion topic. For some reason, the United States link to the blog post - which is the one given out by the official Overwatch Twitter - isn't working, though the United Kingdom one is.

Blizzard have by-and-large been quite cagey about whether Doomfist will appear in the hugely popular game.

Per the breaking news-like announcement, "Overwatch's" antagonistic faction - Talon - facilitated the escape of a prisoner named Akande Ogundimu who also goes by the moniker Doomfist, according to PVP Live.

This is not the first time that the name Doomfist has cropped up on Overwatch fiction.

Overwatch’s new hero Doomfist has finally been announced by Blizzard
BLIZZARD

The attack happened in the early hours when an unidentified aircraft approached the facility.

"The craft passed through the range of the installation's defense systems without incident, leading some to believe that Talon has moles within Helix".

Terry Crews has always been rumored to be taking the role of Doomfist, with his good buddy Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson campaigning for him. The assailant overcame the Helix security guards, leaving over dozen deceased. The Times of Numbani report expressly mentions that "Helix officials have been unwilling to reveal whether or not there were additional escapees or items taken from the facility, but sources have indicated that it is likely that there were further security breaches in addition to Ogundimu".

What Do We Know About Doomfist? As Jeff Kaplan wrote in the forums a bit before Orisa's first tease: "We have new heroes coming". Or is this just another in a long line of teases about the character?

Do you think Doomfist will come to Overwatch this summer?
