  • The new Pokemon Go Gym closures kick off soon

Instead, every gym now has six permanent slots that anyone of the controlling team can fill with their Pokemon.

Meanwhile, it is still uncertain as to when will the "Pokemon GO" gym closures would take place. Pokemon will be fought in the order they're added to the gym rather than CP order.

The developer's idea of gifting gamers with codes to the Legendaries after actively using the new gym system is also a pretty great way to get more players to use the new system, and to get back into the game.

Warriors' Game 5 win wraps up highly-watched NBA Finals
Each year at the start of the playoffs, James swears off social media until a day (or more ) after the postseason ends. It is a business. "It's hard to compare to what that feeling was the first time, but it's pretty close", Curry said .

And to make things more competitive, defending Pokemon will lose motivation over time, which will lower their effective CP and therefore make them easier to defeat. Item acquisition will be possible by spinning the Photo Disc and accessing Gym-based features and content won't be dependent on Prestige and training. Before you get too excited, no, player-vs-player battles aren't among them. The biggest addition is the new Raid Battle feature - it's a cooperative game mode that has users working together to defeat a powerful Pokemon known as a Raid Boss. After you've cleared out a gym of a team's Pokémon, they'll all return to their trainers and an egg will appear over the gym. You will be able to partake in one raid per day before you must pay. While the basic idea - king-of-the-hill matches where Pokemon fought their way up the chain to level up - was solid, players quickly figured out a way to plant their highest level Pokemon (usually a Snorlax) at the top of the hill and made it impossible for even experienced players to take over a gym. You can get a free Raid Pass by visiting a gym, but you can only hold one at a time (though Premium Raid Passes are available from the in-game shop). It's them up to all players to work together to defeat the boss, earning rewards for doing so. If successful, you and your team will have the opportunity to catch it. This Saturday, Niantic confirmed that it would start disabling gyms on June 19th, which means the highly-anticipated gym overhaul update is finally underway.

Raids, meanwhile, should be arriving in "the weeks ahead", first to select players as a beta. In the days to follow, more players will be added and Raid Battles will be activated at more gyms around the world until the team is ready to launch it fully.
