  • Chelsea first opponents for Spurs at new 'home' Wembley

Brighton & Hove Albion's first game in the Premier League will be at home to Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, while Championship winners Newcastle United host Tottenham Hotspur.

In the opening round, Brighton's first ever Premier League game is at home against Man City, while Huddersfield's first top-tier game since 1972 is at Crystal Palace.

Everton commence their campaign against Stoke City at Goodison Park, while the other games on the first matchday see Southampton host Swansea City and West Brom welcome Bournemouth to the Hawthorns.

Tottenham fans will have hoped for an appealing start to life at Wembley - the venue for their home matches next season as their new stadium is being built - and Chelsea should fit the bill nicely.

The Premier League have released fixtures for the 2017-18 season this morning and of course all Blues are focused on Manchester City's schedule.

The first Manchester derby of the season takes place on 9 December - the same weekend that Liverpool are scheduled to meet Everton at Anfield.

As Rafa Benitez continues his preparations for Newcastle's return to the Premier League this coming season, one report coming from the Telegraph should perhaps be of interest to him.

West Ham's first home game is scheduled for August 19 against Southampton but the stadium will not be ready to host soccer matches at that time.

It's coming in the form of Metroid: Samus Returns which is basically a remake of Metroid II with improved graphics and controls. For Metroid , they showed off a new Samus Aran figure and a squishy alien creature breaking out of its glass enclosure.

The August 12 opener is followed by a visit to newly-promoted Huddersfield Town seven days later.

While Chelsea may matter more to Mauricio Pochettino and his players, Arsenal will always be the biggest game of the season for Tottenham fans.

Arsenal visit Spurs at their temporary Wembley home on February 10 and face trips to Newcastle (April 14) and Manchester United (April 28) during the run-in.

Chelsea ran away with the title last season and United's meeting with Antonio Conte's side at Stamford Bridge in November should be a good indicator of where they are.

All fixtures are subject to change.

Mourinho will, though, be grateful of a home game on the opening day with the Super Cup against Real Madrid in Macedonia scheduled for August 8.

Everton, who begin at home to Stoke City, face a testing opening to the campaign with games against Manchester City, Chelsea, Spurs and Manchester United before the end of September.
