Kremlin says Russian Federation committed to Paris pact

By withdrawing from the Paris climate agreement, Trump is rightfully taking back power from the vast pool of unknown and unapproachable bureaucrats at home and overseas to allow the United States to set its own energy policy - but his exit strategy may make it harder and more alienating than it needs to be.

President Donald Trump is expected to announce his decision on whether to abandon the Paris climate accord Thursday afternoon us time (3 p.m. EDT; 1900 GMT).

Trump tweeted on Wednesday night that he would announce his decision at 3pm ET on Thursday at the White House and there are fears that will he confirm reports thatthe U.S. will soon join Nicaragua and Syria on the small list of countries refusing to back the climate accord, signed in 2015.

Mr Trump's refusal to commit to the Paris agreement caused frustration at a G7 meeting last week, with German Chancellor Angela Merkel describing the discussion as "difficult, not to say dissatisfying".

"But of course everybody on the climate change side of things is saying this is nothing to play with, build suspense about".

The Accord was an agreement among members of the United Nations to curb carbon emissions in an effort to combat climate change.

Sky's US Correspondent Amanda Walker said: "His daughter Ivanka Trump has been trying to encourage him to stay in the deal".

India and Spain on Wednesday expressed their commitment to fighting climate change and reiterated their support for implementing the Kyoto and Paris accords.

Fighting climate change is a "global consensus" and an "international responsibility", China's prime minister Li Keqiang said.

So just how big is the US's climate footprint?

They enabled regulators to rewrite key rules curbing United States carbon emissions, lift a temporary ban on federal coal leasing and scrap a requirement for federal officials to consider the impact of climate change when making decisions.

The Kremlin says Russian Federation is committed to the Paris climate change accords. "When the president has a decision, he will make that announcement, and he will make it clear what the basis of that is".

Almost 200 nations, including the United States, agreed in 2015 to voluntarily reduce their greenhouse gas emissions in an effort to combat climate change.

A U.S. withdrawal would come fewer than 18 months after the historic 196-nation pact was signed in the French capital, the fruit of a hard-fought agreement between Beijing and Washington under Barack Obama's leadership.

The US is the second worst emitter of carbon dioxide in the world, according to the European Commission's emissions database, behind only China.

During his election campaign, however, Trump called global warming "a hoax" and promised to scrap the agreement and return jobs to the coal industry that is often an easy target for environmentalists.
