Joshua Lee Webb, 36, allegedly walked into the Estacada Thriftway Harvest Market in OR on Sunday afternoon.

Webb is then accused of stabbing a checkout clerk before being subdued and arrested. Sandy provides police services for Estacada, which has just 2,600 residents. Wagner is expected to survive, police say.

The father of a man suspected of killing his mother and then carrying a severed head into an OR grocery store and stabbing a checkout clerk says his son "seemed normal".

David Webb, the father of Joshua Lee Webb, sobbed as he struggled to process his wife's death and his son's arrest in one awful day.

Witnesses say a man walked into the Estacada Thriftway Harvest Market covered in blood, carrying a knife in one hand and what appeared to be a human head in the other.

The man suspected of killing a woman and then carrying a severed head into an OR grocery store and stabbing a checkout clerk has been identified as 36-year-old Joshua Lee Webb.

Clackamas County sheriff's deputies confirm the suspect is connected to the death of a woman found at a home in Colton, about 12 miles away.

Joshua Webb was booked into jail Monday on charges of murder and attempted murder.

Deputies have identified the murder suspect accused of killing his mother, carrying her severed head into an OR grocery store and then stabbing an employee.

Ernie Roberts, interim police chief in nearby Sandy, Oregon, spoke to reporters Monday about what happened inside the grocery store.

Witnesses say the suspect stabbed a store employee who was airlifted to a medical center with critical injuries.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says the incidents east of Portland are connected.

Other staff reportedly held the knifeman down until police arrived. The victim was alert and talking when he was transported to the hospital, deputies told the station.

Police believe the stabbing is tied to the murder of a woman found dead in a home in the nearby town of Colton. Authorities were conducting an autopsy on the woman Monday and did not immediately release her identity.
