  • Apple Makes iMovie, GarageBand, and iWork Apps for Mac and iOS Free for All Users

Earlier, users would've had to pay $4.99 (or approx Rs.322) for iMovie and GarageBand and $9.99 (or approx for Rs. 645) each of the iWork apps on iOS. The report details that apps have been removed from the Top Free app charts in the App Store. The apps are now listed in the App Store for free. The said apps will now be offered for free even if there are no new hardware purchases involved. Downloading apps requires an Apple ID. Now, though, Apple just made a bunch of Mac and iOS apps free to all users on both platforms.

Before these apps were given free only to the customers who purchased a new Apple devices like Mac or iOS.

At the time of writing, the iWork page had not been updated to reflect the changes.

Britain Could See Its First Full Day without Coal
The reason for this is that there is considerable uncertainty over the future role of gas in United Kingdom power generation. Britain's last power station will be forced to close in 2025 , as part of a government plan to phase out the fossil fuel.

Bringing a little something for everyone, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote tools are Apple's answer to Microsoft's globally dominant Word, Excel, and Powerpoint programs. Following this news, Apple also removed these apps from the Top Free App Chart.

By making the applications free for everyone, Apple is significantly increasing the reach of the suite of apps. It's easy to forget that, up until a few years ago, Apple charged a premium for its annual Mac OS X updates. There are no restrictions and there is nothing you need to purchase now or in the future in order to enjoy full access to these apps. Now they too can use iWork, iMovie, and GarageBand on their devices without having to pay a lot of money for Apple's software. Hopefully, within the next day or so, you will be able to also download iWork.

"You can then use Apple Configurator or your Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution to assign these apps to an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac that you manage", the support page says. Therefore, the move to stop charging for it will particularly benefit anyone with an older piece of Apple kit who never purchased the software, which used to cost between $5 and $20 a piece.
