Gallup Poll: Fewer Voters Think Trump Will Deliver On His Campaign Promises

  • Trump Approval Rating Sees Modest Rise After Military Strikes

The Gallup poll surveyed a pool of 1,019 adults from April 5 to 9.

A Gallup poll released Monday found just 45% of Americans say Trump "keeps his promises", down from 62% who said so in early February.

In the two months since, however, Trump appeared to walk away from repealing the Affordable Care Act after Republicans failed to agree on the healthcare replacement bill that Trump stood behind. That's down from 62 percent who believed he would when polled from February 1-5, two weeks after Trump's inauguration.

Most Americans do not think Trump is "honest and trustworthy", the poll found.

Frankly, we're not exactly sure how anyone could have deemed serial liar and bloviator Donald Trump a "keeper of promises", but that sheen, however misguided, has dulled pretty quickly along with other key points of deterioration in public sentiment. A Morning Consult/Politico exit poll from November showed that voters said being a strong leader was the most important characteristic they used when choosing a president, with 36 per cent saying it mattered most, compared with just 18 per cent who said the same in 2012.

Iran's president resisters to run in May elections
He will face frontrunner Ebrahim Raisi , who also registered on Friday, and is close to the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. Many Iranians have grown impatient with the slow rate of improvement in their economic fortunes since sanctions were lifted.

That attribute - a leadership style that's "strong and decisive" - was said to be extremely important to voters in at least one poll after the last election.

Trump's supporters have expressed their unhappiness that the president has not moved forward on immigration, healthcare or taxes.

Which is why in the latest Gallup poll, President Trump's approval ratings have seen a modest rise from 35 percent to 39 percent.

Most Americans have viewed Trump unfavourably since before his inauguration and continue to do so almost 90 days into his term in office.

Trump has also been somewhat re-branded as a wartime president after he launched 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles at Syrian government air bases. Sleight of hand will get you only so far, and Democrats, Independents, even Republicans are feeling the disillusionment with the Trump swamp.
