Trump Considering Sanctions Against Russia, Iran for Supporting Syria

A political solution to the war in Syria is not possible with President Bashar al-Assad in power, the USA ambassador to the United Nations has said in an apparent hardening of the Trump administration's position. Still, Haley said the US didn't see a peaceful future Syria with Assad in power.

"Once the ISIS threat has been reduced or eliminated, I think we can turn our attention directly to stabilizing the situation in Syria", he said.

Earlier on Sunday North Korea vowed to boost its defenses following the USA strikes in Syria.

Haley said she thought a regime change would occur because "all of the parties are going to see that Assad is not the leader that needs to be taking place for Syria".

Graham also suggested that Trump has the authority, without authorization from Congress, to send in additional troops and hit Assad again for using chemical weapons. He says that once the militant group is eliminated, the US can turn to stabilizing Syria.

The Syrian forces resumed flight operations at the airbase that was hit by the United States on Friday, an opposition group said.

"And I think that's when the president will make his decisions", Haley said Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union".

US President Donald Trump has signaled a startling about-turn toward Assad, who many in the worldwide community hold responsible for Tuesday's horrific events.

In the hours leading up to Trump's decision to order the strikes, Tillerson was among the most forward-leaning of Trump's top aides in suggesting the USA would deliver an "appropriate response". "Or, it could be that the Assad regime is playing the Russians for fools, telling them that there are no chemical weapons, all the while stockpiling them on their bases", Haley said.

Zabrosky, 51, of Greensburg said the pathos of Jesus' suffering comes through more in his acting than in his words. This year, the drama will conclude at First Reformed United Church of Christ, 312 S.

The airstrikes on the opposition-held northern town of Khan Sheikhoun, where 87 people were killed in the chemical attack earlier this week, killed a woman and wounded her son, according to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and the Local Coordination Committees, an activist collective.

"I think what we should do is ask Russian Federation how could it be, if you have advisors at that airfield, that you didn't know that the Syrian Air Force was preparing and executing a mass murder attack with chemical weapons?"

White House national security adviser H.R. McMaster says that while the USA would push for regime change in Syria, "We're not the ones who are going to effect that change".

On Saturday British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson announced he had canceled a planned trip to Russian Federation because of fast-changing developments in Syria.

"We're hopeful that Russian Federation will choose to play a constructive role in supporting ceasefires through their own Astana talks, but also, ultimately, through Geneva", Tillerson said.

He stopped short of accusing Russian Federation of being directly involved in the planning or execution of the attack, saying he had not seen "any hard evidence" to suggest the nation was an accomplice to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The defence secretary's newspaper article saw him add his support for a long-term solution to the civil war in which Assad must no longer be president.

At the same time, Tillerson carries to Moscow the weight of FBI and congressional investigations into Russia's interference in last year's presidential election.
