  • Begum Jaan Opens As Per Expectations At The Box Office

Vidya Balan starrer, Begum Jaan is all the rage these days not only because of its breathtaking trailer, but also because of the controversy surrounding its release in Pakistan. Begum Janna is the story of eleven women who refuse to part ways with their brothel and each other during the partition between India and Pakistan. Both Gauahar Khan and Pallavi Sharda spoke about the scenes they found challenging to film in Begum Jaan and why the film represents a fighting spirit. Begum Jaan is based in 1940's, but still even after 70 years anything around the partition of India and Pakistan piques interest among the audience.

When it comes to acting chops, you have to give it to Vidya Balan. Begum Jaan, however, is let down badly by the side show, the girls coming across as extremely inept and ineffectual, their lingo and accents is particularly laboured, the body language too designed and deliberate. What happens next forms the rest of the plot of the film. Speaking about her character, she said Begum Jaan is nothing less than a tigress on the prowl and she will stop at nothing to regain what's hers.

Emphasising that "Begum Jaan" is the readaptation and not the remake of "Rajkahini", Vidya said, "I met Rituparna Sengupta during this visit and she wished me".

Rebekah Mason's husband fired from Alabama government job
The sex-tinged scandal gathered force over the past few days, with pressure building as impeachment hearings began Monday. He quit as state involving that brought him to the brink of impeachment and prompted a series of criminal investigations.

Vidya Balan has delivered brilliance performance. Not that Pakistan has not allowed films to be made on the Partition by Pakistani filmmakers, the last one possibly Manto (2015) by Sarmad Sultan. Director Srijit Mukherjee tried hard to pick up the best pieces from his earlier film and present in a grand manner, but the film looks very forced upon and animated.

Begum Jaan is very dialogue-oriented, and while that is no fault, the preachy and obvious effort to prove a point, suits drama rather than cinema. As a foul-mouthed, fearsome brothel madam, Vidya Balan seemed nothing like what people have seen her.

Vidya Balan is fantastic as a fiery lioness out to protect her cubs. The only time she opens her mouth is to scream when Vidya hits her hard.
