Man dragged off United flight plans to sue: Lawyers

United remained under a spotlight on Thursday as representatives of the carrier faced tough questioning at a city council hearing in Chicago, where the airline is headquartered and where the incident occurred.

City of Chicago Aviation police were the ones that removed Dao, and Demetrio says because of that fact the City of Chicago will also be a defendant in the lawsuit he is going to file.

A passenger dragged from a United Express flight suffered a "significant" concussion and broken nose, and he lost two front teeth, one of his lawyers has said.

Lawyers for the passenger dragged from a United Airlines plane in Chicago filed an emergency request with an IL state court on Wednesday to require the carrier to preserve video recordings and other evidence related to the incident.

Footage of a bloodied Dr Dao being dragged off an overbooked flight by airport security officers on Sunday night has been viewed hundreds of millions of times.

Demetrio said the video showed an extraordinary instance of something that happens too routinely: Airlines overbooking flights then bumping paying customers.

He says it exposed a culture in which airlines have "bullied" passengers.

Liverpool star to undergo surgery on Tuesday after season-ending injury
Mane suffered meniscus damage after feeling awkwardly under a challenge from Toffees defender Leighton Baines . Liverpool have confirmed forward Sadio Mane will undergo season-ending knee surgery on Tuesday.

Paul Callan, a civil and criminal trial lawyer in NY, said the public outcry over Dao's treatment would likely push the airline to a quick and generous settlement. He said Dao has been released from the hospital and is staying in a "secure" location.

Dao was dragged off a flight Sunday by airport guards after he refused to give up his seat on the full plane to make room for crew members.

Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky of IL said Wednesday she plans to introduce legislation to end the practice of involuntarily bumping passengers off planes.

Given the wide public outrage over the incident, Dao is in a strong position as he prepares to launch a legal action, lawyers who represent airlines and passengers said.

Demetrio called the apology "staged" and a response to the airline executive's earlier comments, which were heavily criticized by many.

They're also seeking cockpit voice recordings, incident reports and other materials. "We are really discontinuing our good practices", said Oscar Munoz, the CEO.

At the top of their list of questions is whether the airport officers had the authority to board the plane.

Chicago's Aviation Department said on Wednesday that two more officers had been placed on paid leave in connection with the incident.
