  • Sadio Mane comes off injured during the Merseyside derby earlier this month

Liverpool have confirmed forward Sadio Mane will undergo season-ending knee surgery on Tuesday.

The Senegal global hurt his knee in a challenge with Everton left-back Leighton Baines on April 1 in the Merseyside derby at Anfield, where the hosts emerged 3-1 victors.

Mane suffered meniscus damage after feeling awkwardly under a challenge from Toffees defender Leighton Baines.

The 25-year-old is now expected to need at least eight weeks to fully recover which effectively ends his season prematurely with Mane set to miss Liverpool's six remaining fixtures against West Brom, Crystal Palace, Watford, Southampton, West Ham and Middlesbrough.

Funeral held for music legend Chuck Berry in St. Louis
He received a lifetime achievement Grammy in 1984 and was among the first inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. Fans filed passed Berry's open casket, which held his cherry-red Gibson ES-335 electric on inside of its lid.

"He will get a longer break and will be ready for next season", the German said. 'That is the only good news'.

The pacy frontman has bagged 13 goals in 27 matches this term to help fire Liverpool into the Champions League qualification spots in England's top flight, and his pace and unrelenting determination to win the ball back has seen Mane become a firm favourite on the terraces in L4.

Meanwhile, the club have announced they will play a post-season friendly in Australia.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has picked Liverpool's Sadio Mane as his Premier League Player of the Season, ahead of Chelsea stars Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante.
