  • Ford recalling 53,000 trucks that can roll away while parked

Ford is advising its customers to "use the parking brake at all times when shifting their vehicle into park to keep the vehicle stationary".

The trucks under the recall have 6.2-liter engines. Even more alarming is the issue the trucks are being recalled for: there's the possibility they could roll away while parked.

These vehicles are equipped with a damaged park rod actuating plate that may not function properly when the driver moves the shift lever to park. Dealers will fix the trucks for free but don't have the necessary parts yet.

The company said on Wednesday it was recalling 211,000 vehicles in North America to replace potentially faulty side door latches.

All the recalled 2017 F-250 trucks were built in Kentucky between October 9, 2015, and March 30, 2017. Though Ford claims it knows of no injuries or accidents related to the defect, it's actually the third recall for the manufacturer this week alone.

CarComplaints.com will update this page when additional recall details are released, but F-250 owners with questions should call Ford at 866-436-7332 and ask about recall number 17C06.
